With the Gilmore Girls long awaited revival behind us, diehard fans like me need something to fill the void now that the anticipation has subsided. When Lit Cube’s monthly subscription box caught my eye on Facebook, I knew it was something I needed to take advantage of.
My first month was December’s box, which came slightly late due to shipping issues at no fault of the company, and it was like receiving a nice big cup of Luke’s coffee. Warm, sweet and the best Stars Hollow could offer.
First pro: It comes in its own neat little box. I love that I can keep the box itself as and use it to store trinkets.
Second Pro: Quality of the items and the shape they arrived in. Nothing was damaged or broken in transit and all of the items are pretty nice quality. The scarf has survived a washing already with no fraying or pilling.
- Air Freshener
- Luke’s Take Out Menu (with information about the items listed above)
Third Pro: Selection of items. It’s a nice array of items to choose from, a little something for everyone! I especially love the necklace!
Since this wouldn’t be a true Gilmore Girls post without a pro/con list, there are a few cons.
- In this box, the OOO-BER air freshener not only seemed cheaper than the price they listed it at, but also lost its scent after one day in the car.
- Price. This box retails at $34.90 per month. While I LOVE Gilmore Girls and all of its quirky inside jokes, that’s a little steep for me to swing every month. I know it includes some great items and shipping, but I may have to pick and choose the months I can afford these gifts for myself.
I honestly think the PROs heavily outweigh the CONs in this situation. Maybe I’m biased because of my love for all things Gilmore, but I will happily shell out the dough for this box for as long as my little wallet can hold out.
A few weeks ago (Sept 4-7) I was a vendor at the Supernatural Convention in Whippany New Jersey. This television show on the CW has been a favorite with my family since 2005 when it premiered on Sept 13th. My daughter, Holly and I sold my handmade pins and magnets from all Sci-Fi genre including Supernatural, Dr. Who, Firefly as well as Sherlock, steampunk, Harry Potter and (yes) My Little Ponies. It was a prosperous weekend as well as fun and entertaining. Met lots of interesting fans of the show and got to go to a few of the panels hosted by the stars of the show. We had a fabulous time the karaoke night and enjoyed the Cabaret show. It was a rewarding experience and we hope to do it again.

Steampunk is a somewhat new style of … well, pretty much anything, from clothing to art, from literature to lifestyles. (Hugo was a very steampunkish movie.) It’s an imaginative combination of the Victorian era and science-fiction. Its made up of gears, clock works, vintage materials, metallic items, lace and fantasy, whimsy and imagination. Steampunk is adventure and inventions, romantic and unique, imaginative and clever. These are a couple of my Steampunk jewelry items.
This Gentleman is a pin handmade with polymer clay of a Victorian man with mustache, monocle, ascot and top hat. Very debonaire.
This pendant is a montage of gears, wires and polymer clay and dangles from a bronze link chain.
Steampunk is FUN and Adventurous.
